Make me a pundit

Last week I hit the depths of despair because I thought that Obama might have not done as well as expected.

This week I saw a solid win by Joe Biden. Palin had notes--wait, I'll capitalize SARAH PALIN SPOKE FROM NOTES and still made no sense.

If anyone says Palin won it is only because she didn't throw up on her shoes.

The one clincher moment that Biden let go by was when they were talking about the commander in chief Biden should have said "Are you prepared?"

That would have won the election by twenty points.

I thought that her dig at Biden about raising children, revealing her apparent ignorance of his life story, followed by Biden choking up briefly, and then her loony, upbeat response, was a debate winner for Joe.

For all that, though, I am still obsessed over the fact that she winked at the camera. It haunted my dreams last night.

Hey, at least she didn't read directly FROM the notes. She can too multitask, dammit.

I thought Biden kicked her ass, and he didn't even come at her with everything he had. I wish he had come back harder against the ridiculous "white flag of surrender" but altogether, he was great and showed her for what she is; an attractive face with not much behind it.

Biden was, as I thought he would, much more intent on going after McCain than Palin. I think the strategy in that is that had he gone after her, he'd be giving Palin far more credit and attention than she deserved.

Lest we forget, she's just the Vice Presidential candidate.

But, also, and, ya know, this is also important, ya know, she's also a maverick!

By the way, Jess, in answer to your question on my blog, I haven't read the shock doctrine, but I'd be interested in reading it.

I think that Obama and Biden are using the right strategy by keeping at arms length. McCain is imploding all by himself. Palin was already over before the debate even started.

The reason Palin didn't throw up on her shoes is because she honestly, truly, deeply, believes that she is the best candidate for the job. She is utterly unselfconscious and perhaps a little on the psychopathic side of things.

She has no idea how she looks to the outside world (the world outside of her head, that is) and this gives her an infant-like confidence analogous to the visual cliff scenario.

This is about as good an anaysis as I've seen of Palin on the net. Kudos sir!
